Peterson in Jeopardy?

by: Chris Sullivan

Dave "Softy" Mahler reported this afternoon that there is a threat that Julian Peterson may be cut or traded sometime soon. According to Mahler:

The Seahawks could either trade Peterson or release him. Apparently, Peterson was asked by the team to take a pay cut, but he refused
We'll see soon enough whether there is any truth to this, but it's something that I have suggested might happen here, but still thought it was more likely (70% probability) that he would restructure his contract rather than (15%) being cut or traded. Cutting Peterson would free up $4.2 million in space.

Is there any truth to this rumor? It's hard to say, but it doesn't seem to make a load of sense to cut him prior to the draft. Cutting Peterson and drafting Curry could work, but if you cut him now and Curry goes to the Chiefs, well, what do you do?

Thanks to Patrick J. and Hawks111 for passing this along. You guys rock like rock death. ~END~
