Mike Sando has confirmed Dave "Softy" Mahler's story on KJR yesterday in which he said that the Seahawks have asked Julian Peterson to take a pay cut. The link confirming the story is here.
Sando thinks the move could be premature:
It's not my money, but releasing Peterson seems premature and would seem to unnecessarily create a need at a position of strength. Losing Peterson would also deprive Seattle's defense of a rare commodity: A proven pass rusher. Peterson has 24.5 sacks in three seasons with Seattle. He had only five last season as the entire team dropped off.Chris Sullivan brought the story to the Seahawk Addicts blog shortly after hearing the Mahler story on KJR yesterday, but there was some question as to whether the story was authentic. Looks as if it was and we're on the verge of losing Peterson if we can't come to an accord with him as he moves into the backloaded part of his contract.
Never a dull day in Seahawk land, eh folks?
Hasta,
Bill T
