Hawks Work Out Versatile Draft Prospect

by: Michael Steffes

Word on the street is that the Seahawks had Cincy DE/TE prospect Conner Barwin into Renton today for a work out (no link). This is according to Ed Thompson of the Scout Network.

This is an interesting player for the Hawks to look at. There are differing opinions on Barwin. He seemed to excel at defensive end last year after previously being an effective tight end. Many teams are looking at him as a DE, but draft guru Mike Mayock still thinks he is a tight end. Potentially, the Hawks could use him at both. They are looking for a third tight end (sorry Joe Newton), and they could use some depth at DE, in case Patrick Kerney has more shoulder trouble.

He is expected to go in the 2nd round.

In another draft related note from today, the Hawks had representatives at the USF (South Florida) pro day today as well. END
