Mini-News: Isaiah Stanback

by: Chris Sullivan

For all of you Husky fans out there, I thought I'd post this quick little bit. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the Cowboys are likely going to utilize Isaiah Stanback alongside Tony Romo as their Wildcat QB. This continues the immediate move for the NFL towards the Wildcat Formation as it picks up steam after the Dolphins shocked the Pats in Week 3 last season.

This only goes to show how quickly an idea / formation can spread when it reaches a tipping point. The West Coast Offense, contrarily, took more than a decade to pick up fully--compare that to 14 weeks of games for the Wildcat and you see the difference. As defenses get faster and stronger, NFL offenses are forced to get more clever and strategic. The Wildcat is a perfect addition to a team's repertoire as a means of doing precisely that.

What would you like to see more of in 2009? I think Knapp has made it clear that he's open to having Seneca come in as a Wildcat QB, which is exciting. What else will make the Hawks more exciting in the coming season?
