In news that won't likely make you happy, the Seahawks have scheduled a visit with Raider fullback Justin Griffith. Griffith, of course, knows Knapp well and would presumably fit quite nicely in the Seahawks new offense. That said, the fans are not really looking to replicate the offense of the Oakland Raiders. With Weaver not attracting the type of interest that people were expecting him too, we should we be able to get him fairly cheap -- at least, relative to what we were expecting. Still, if he doesn't fit we must remit. That doesn't make sense, but you get the idea.
Knapp has brought Griffith with him to Oakland from Atlanta and appears likely to bring him along for his Seattle adventure too. He is not a rushing fullback -- in 83 games he has 90 carries for 407 career rushing yards. His career long is 21 yards and he only has one touchdown. Receiving, Griffith has 122 in his career for 871 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In 3 years in Seattle, Weaver has played in 46 games, gotten 80 carries for 356 yards with one touchdown rushing and a long run of 37 yards. He has 60 receptions for 547 yards and two touchdowns. Statistically, Weaver is superior, but that doesn't always matter in situations like this.
