Housh Torn

by: Chris Sullivan

. . . between Minnesota and Cincinatti, according to Pro Football Talk's twitter account. Sounds like he won't be wearing blue and green anytime soon, but not for lack of trying. A lot of people are getting down on Ruskell for not getting the big wins -- Canty, Housh, Clayton, etc. -- but one has to remember that it's not easy to get someone to move to the corner of the country. Housh lives in California and is familiar with the Northwest, so that's not really an issue in his case, but it appears we have offered both Housh and Clayton more than anyone else, and they decided to go elsewhere for other reasons.

Also, I have to say that while, yes, we were a 4-12 team last year and, yes, I am a "homer," there's little doubt that we were the best 4-12 team in the league. There were at least 3 or 4 games that we could have won if we had fielded a full football team. The NFC West will be a better division this year, but tweaking our defense (by adding some safety help and sliding Mebane over to 3-tech, for example) could go a long way towards "fixing" the team. Ruskell has tried hard to pull in two WRs and had (it appears) no success, but one can't really fault him for the players opting out. ~END~
